Collecting in challenge coins is a very personal thing to many. Many have served in the Armed Forces, police departments, or maybe as a civilian in a government agency. No matter the reason collecting brings them enjoyment through the mean of each coin. A coin represents a place, a person, or maybe a specific commander. People tend to take a part of an area like the Army and only collect Golden Knight coins or maybe just Cavalry coins. They do this because there is a personal attachment to these die-struck gems.

Collecting is important because it allows memories of service to live on through the symbol of the metal in which it was imposed. When someone retires from a branch of service after 20 or 30 years they have collected coins from their first commander or a trip to Iraq with the boys. These could forever hang on a wall in a shadow box as a representation of service. Many people take these symbols as pride and accomplishments. Many people collect currency because there is a designated value behind it. Someone told then that a 1 oz. nugget of gold brings $XX of monetary gain to them. The same goes for a challenge coin. A coin from perhaps the President of the United States is almost impossible to get. Someone told them that because of the limited amount of them given in the world it is worth $XX to someone else. People put prices on these items even without the Federal Reserve saying what it should be sold for. This is the case in many hobbies like baseball cards or Disney bell sets.

The longer someone waits to start collecting the further they are in getting great coins. Each day hundreds of new coins come to the market and a generally snatched up very quickly. This is not to say you shouldn’t collect. This is to say you should start collecting now, and not later. Finding the rare coins and some of the best looking coins is what everyone wants.
